Academy Sports + Outdoors

Both Academy Sports stores in Huntsville AL are respectable. Very clean, great selection, and decent customer service. I personally wish that they had a much better selection of firearms, and decent and knowledgeable associates to work in that department / gun counter. The long gun displays at both stores are more than half empty, and the pistol selection is only so-so. My biggest concern is the gun counter employees that don't have the knowledge to actually be selling / handling firearms safely! I've been flagged (had a gun pointed directly at me) by their employees on multiple occasions! Even though it's been reported to management, it still happens to myself, and other customers. All said, I would recommend these stores, but I'd also only give the customer service a (5 out of 10) rating...

Went in last weekend to pick up a few things for an upcoming trip, and overall it was a pretty solid experience. The store was clean and organized, which made it easy to find what I was looking for without asking for help every two minutes. Staff seemed friendly enough and didn’t hover, but were available when I had a question about gear sizes. Prices felt fair compared to other places around, not cheap but not crazy either. I liked the variety they had, from basic equipment to more serious stuff for regular players. Checkout was quick and painless. Not a life-changing visit or anything, but I’d come back again when I need sports gear.
