Sacramento Gun Range

This place blew me away! Pew pew! 😜 Huge, clean indoor gun range even has lead remover soap in the bathrooms. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff and massive rental collection with superb prices. Great place to practice.

I found this range a couple months ago when I was first getting started. The environment was pretty welcoming and also beginner friendly, as someone new to this hobby. I ended getting my FSC and taking handguns first steps course here with my partner and mother. We all really enjoyed the course led by Chris. The range has great instructors and the staff are generally friendly enough and helpful. Wait times can be slow though for checking in. For example, on my last visit, me and my partner were waiting in the member check in queue at the front of the line, and still had to wait 10 minutes while the guest line continued to move through multiple people at a time. It definitely ate through our appointment time but I brushed it off since VIP reservations for lane rentals are free. If they weren’t though, I’d be a quite a bit more miffed. Prices can be on the higher side, especially for ammo. So bring your own ammo and gun if possible. Otherwise you’ll have to buy ammo with their rentals. They have a great selection for their rentals though! Another major complaint though is there handling of the indoor vip range. It’s a small 25 yard, AC ventilated, 6 lane, members only range. I’ve done about 7 or so sessions now and at least 3-4 of the times I’ve been, some other members have brought in their large caliber rifles and shotguns to shoot. The noise being trapped in the indoor range is atrocious. Every guest I brought has complained about it. You need to double up on ear protection, and more likely than not someone is coming in with their big toy to damage your hearing. Talk about being courteous… it’s not just us either, we’ve already seen at least two other VIP members blow up to staff members complaining about it. We have also quietly voiced our frustrations to the staff as well. I don’t blame the staff for it but the only response back is “it’s management’s decision”, and that they don’t want to come off as policing people’s choices. But cmon, there’s literally a separate rifle range for those people that want to bring them. Shooting large calibers in a small 25 yard indoor rang3 is not it. Our recent experience had a group of three guys bring in at least 5 rifles in their little wheelie cart. They were constantly cycling between each other and rapid firing their large calibers for over an hour. One of the pissed off members threatened to close their membership and walk out. I’m starting to question my continued patronage here if this continues to be an issue.
