Academy Sports + Outdoors

Called to see if they would honor dobbyns replacement warranty for a broken rod tip, since dobbyns told me that any retailer selling their products should honor their hassle free replacement warranty. The man I spoke with in sporting goods said they would honor it only for a replacement but not a refund with or without a receipt. I went in left the rod with customer service and went back and got the replacement. Stood in line for almost an hour. The cashier started the return and called for a manager for approval. They approved the exchange but stated that I needed to pay the difference in price. I asked what difference? Its the same price as when I bought it? He stated that they ran a sale within the last 90 days. I said but thats not today. I was asked to pay the difference or the the broken rod back and leave so they could assist other customers. I was beyond furious on the inside but remaind calm and respectful and said ive been here for over an hour now, twice as long as anyone behind me has waited. He said thats what he could do and I could pay the difference or take the rod back and leave its up for debate. I will never do business with Academy Sports again unless they honor the replacement warranty. I contacted Dobbyns again and they said they would contact Academy and get back with me.

Wide selection of sporting goods and clothing, more outdoors items that I was expecting. Prices seemed decent, though of course name brand items were expensive. Clean and organized store.
