Academy Sports + Outdoors

The people are awesome and the store looks great! However, after making a purchase without using an academy account, I got a spam ad for academy marketing on my phone. They used a 3rd party privacy invasion company to connect my debit card to my phone number and track my purchases and financial data. I did not consent to this, and opted out of the marketing spam. I did not consent to academy accessing my financial data. I did not provide them with my name or phone. This is aggressive, invasive, and malicious surveillance. Common? Yes. Acceptable? Absolutely not!

Very disappointed in the way Academy does business it's a really long story and hard to explain pay attention to items prices and when they have sales items will say they are on sale but some are actually marked up from it's original price very odd my husband looked into this after he seen something on sale that he was interested in while in the store then later that day he went to their website to look at that item again and the original price was cheaper than the sale price he thought this was odd so he went back to the store the next day and scanned the item and it came up showing the original price being cheaper and then we had some items to return on a different day just so you know always keep all receipts from here even if you think you might need to exchange something for the exact item for a different color also when returning a item check the item in the store and it's price at that time because a item we were trying to return they said since we didn't have the receipt they would have to give us the sale price which was $15 cheaper than the original which is a huge difference well after the transaction this didn't sit right with me because this brand of sunglasses never goes on sale and it's a newer item so Ii went back in and checked the price and it wasn't on sale they still show $25 on the display and on the box and when scanned at the scanners around the store this is their way of not giving you your full amount of money back if you do not have your receipt they will rip you off and just give a sale price amount for the item you are returning we returned 2 items they did this same thing for both neither were on sale also I forgot we are rewards members and we use our rewards account everytime we check out I know a lot of other rewards programs at stores will show transactions and or purchase history and you can look up and do returns this way apparently Academy's doesn't and I spend a couple hundred here a couple times a year and have never received any rewards so what's the point of this rewards program I think I'm going to start shopping at a different sporting good store after all of this I definitely don't like stores who lie about prices and rip people off by making them think they are getting a good deal on a item that's on sale when it's really marked up
