Academy Sports + Outdoors

Went to get a compass, shown on website as in stock. Couldn't find it easily, asked for help. Directed to "camping, or marine"... Appropriate ends of the store. Couldn't find it, couldn't find anyone to help me. Found someone at front of the store that was busy but actually stopped and helped me. The whole process took probably 20 minutes. Used electronic receipt... Turned out that compass wasn't needed after all, so returned it. That whole process took another 15-20 min, service desk was busy, sent me to cashier who had not done return with electronic receipt (texted) and wanted me email... Etc. I was unimpressed with the overall experience. Doubtful I will return. Hopefully others have better experiences.

Update I did pickup the replacement yesterday and it was perfect. And so was the customer service I received from the complete staff at Academy including from the manager I believe her name was Jessica but they were just excellent highly given five stars I'm so glad I did not buy it from a place down the street I would have never received this level of quality service I wanted to share my experience. I ordered a Smith & Wesson pistol online in areas delivered to the Greenville store. When I went to pick it up I realized that it was malfunctioning on the rail. All the people at Academy were excellent especially the manager they called in whose name was Andrew. He was very experienced in that model how's the gun and realize the issue immediately unfortunately it was not an issue that they could fix on the new gun I wouldn't want it to be fixed. All the people were extremely helpful he told me to call him while I was in the store to the online service so they could cancel the order Which I did in Andrew and the staff was completely helpful. I did order a Replacement And I am hoping that Smith and Wesson is not just become another Company of poor service and poor quality. the next day I did call Smith and Wesson to ask them If this happens what are they willing to do I will tell you I am not very impressed with the response I got. so when I do go back to pick up the new weapon I will videotape the whole thing And If the problem still exist And Smith and Wesson has their same attitude I will post a complete video With a very negative review on Smith and Wesson but I give Academy five stars all of the people there were excellent very helpful very kind including the online customer service people they were all exceptional. thank you
