I went to Big Wood Goods feeling genuinely terrified of firearms, but determined to learn about personal protection and proper firearm safety. Steve immediately changed everything about that experience. When I asked about safety training, he didn’t hesitate and said, “Let’s go, I’ll train you right now.” From the very beginning, he was patient, calm, and incredibly reassuring. He walked me through firearm safety, how to load ammo, proper stance and posture, and how to correctly use the sights to shoot at the target. Every step was explained clearly and thoughtfully. Steve knew I was nervous, and he never rushed me or made me feel silly for asking questions. He was encouraging the entire time, offering gentle, constructive feedback that helped me improve while always prioritizing safety. I truly felt safe learning from him, which meant everything to me as someone who had never handled a gun before. What shocked me most was how empowering the experience became. He even told me I was a great shooter—something I never expected to hear, especially as a woman walking into this for the first time. His kindness, patience, and deep knowledge made a huge difference in my confidence. I’m incredibly grateful for Steve’s instruction and encouragement, and I fully plan to continue taking his classes so I can be a responsible, confident firearm owner. If you’re nervous, new, or just want to learn the right way, you couldn’t ask for a better teacher.
