On Target Guns, Bows and Range LLC

Before anyone reads on, this review is specifically targeted at Chubby’s Grill inside the gun shop. I’m not much for shooting but the gun folks were extremely nice and the selection was impressive. The Grill. This should not work. I came in thinking it wouldn’t work. A counter walk up sit down restaurant in a gun retail shop? Yet not only was I proven wrong, I was flat out blown away by the quality of what I ate. When it comes to inconspicuous hole in the wall eatery’s, I can’t think of another that does what it sets out to do as well. What was ordered: Cheese burger, fries, and a corndog. Cheeseburger: The bun was fluffy and nicely grilled, LTPO crisp and fresh, the fresh (not frozen) patty was thick, beautifully cooked and seasoned with lots of gooey American cheese. Think of the best” fair” style burger you’ve ever had. No frills but all yummy. 9/10 Corndog: The footlong hotdog was bursting with smoky flavor and perfectly cooked. Around the dog, a crunchy not-too-thick shell of cornmeal that again was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The grease was especially light which is always nice. This was a show stopper and of the many many corn dogs I’ve had, this was a top 5. 10/10 Fries: Unfortunately everything can’t be perfect. The size and cook on the fires were quite nice, however the level of salt was extremely high. After a few bites I found myself pushing them away. It’s a shame considering how well they were prepared besides the ungodly amount of salt. Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience, and the atmosphere of eating in a retail space felt almost old school. The people behind the gun counter and grill were polite and friendly. If lived within 25 miles of Grove, I would definitely be eating at least once a week.

Great place. Would be 5 stars if a bit closer to online prices. Friendly, knowledgeable. Two labs to pet.
