Academy Sports + Outdoors

I went to the Academy off Jonestown Rd today to finish up my holiday shopping. The store itself was beautiful. It was neat, clean, and organized. However, I walked past 9 different employees, located in various departments throughout the store, as well as the front-end. Not a single soul acknowledged me in any way. In fact, they put their heads down, diverted their eyes, and/or changed direction. I am still in the near-empty parking lot as I write this, only proving it was not because of holiday traffic. In fact employees out numbered customers throughout my visit. I came to give you my money during a time it is scarce. Your entire team was completely disinterested, so I left with my wallet in tact.

Academy Sports is a brand new store that has been open less than a month. It is located on US 22 in the heart of Colonial Park, inside the Paxton Towne Centre. An easy reference point would be Target, which is located two stores over. This store is very similar to DICK's Sporting Goods, but IMO is a tad larger. They have everything you can imagine and are stocked to the gills with inventory possibly due to their recent opening. Prices are on par with the rest of the chain stores, but grand opening sales are still in effect. One thing that Academy Sports has over DICK's is that they offer firearms sales. I have to admit that this is one of the best stocked firarms/handgun stores in the Harrisburg Area. If you are looking for any sports related items this store will have what you need. If you need a quick bite after shopping there are plenty of choices, but I highly recommend Two Brothers Pizza, which is right across the parking lot. This is a family owned business and they treat you as such, with great food to boot.
