I visited the store to purchase a firearm. The associate at the counter was staring down and did not acknowledge me. After several minutes, I asked him if he could assist me. He responded, "what do you need." I pointed at the item I wanted, and he responded, "you just want to look at it", to which I said I wanted to buy it. He then said, got your driver's license? I presented my license and very curtly asked if all info was correct. I told him the address was different, but I had a screen shot of the info from DMV that the change had been processed. His tone became even more curt, bordering on argumentative and told me he couldn't accept the screen shot. I completely understand. It was his lack in acknowledging me and his curt, argumentative tone that I found unsatisfactory. I was an interruption to him and it was apparent from the beginning that he did not want to assist me. I will visit DMV to get a formal, written confirmation of the change of address, and purchase the item elsewhere. Being courteous and knowing it's not just what you say, it's how you say it.

I went to the Academy Johnson City store yesterday afternoon to purchase a bike and helmet for a boy I had selected on an Angel Tree. I was totally impressed with William who helped me pick out the bike and helmet and loaded it in my car. The cashier was great too. I had gone to two other stores looking for a bike, and could not get help. Just when I thought customer service was a dying art, William stepped up and went above my expectations.
