Academy Sports + Outdoors

I have been shopping at Academy for decades. Overall great store. Unfortunately, this location is poorly managed. I was there today on a busy Saturday morning and noticed when I walked in that the line was 20 people deep. The store was not that full. When I got to the line, there was only 2 of 10 registers open. I looked around the store at personnel as I waited in line. Nobody made any effort to expedite or assist with checkout. I could see five employees standing around doing nothing while everybody waited. Complete management failure. Pretty disappointing to see.

I visited this Academy location twice for the same item. On my first visit, the website showed it in stock, but staff said it wasn’t available and didn’t check inventory. Because the site still showed availability, I returned a second time and went to customer service. The item was found, confirming it had been there the whole time. When I asked to price match Nike’s public sale price of $41.97 (not clearance or membership-only), I was told they couldn’t match it because it was “Nike’s sale price,” which doesn’t align with Academy’s price-match policy. Two long trips, inconsistent service, and a refusal to honor a valid price match made this a frustrating experience.
